Target

Target Name ACADM
SwissProt ID Link P11310
Function This enzyme is specific for acyl chain lengths of 4 to 16.
Subcellular Location Mitochondrion matrix.
Involvement in Disease Acyl-CoA dehydrogenase medium-chain deficiency: An inborn error of mitochondrial fatty acid beta-oxidation which causes fasting hypoglycemia, hepatic dysfunction and encephalopathy, often resulting in death in infancy. The disease is caused by mutations affecting the gene represented in this entry.
Post-Translational Modification Acetylation at Lys-307 and Lys-311 in proximity of the cofactor-binding sites reduces catalytic activity. These sites are deacetylated by SIRT3.
Subunit Structure Homotetramer. Interacts with the heterodimeric electron transfer flavoprotein ETF.
Sequence Similarities Belongs to the acyl-CoA dehydrogenase family.
